1.Nothing to be done.”
- Samuel Beckett, Waiting for Godot
Its a importat quote because and is connected with Aburdism that mean somebody think that life dont make sense and Nothing to be done how the quote say.
2. Such is life.”
- Samuel Beckett, Waiting for Godot
By this quote he may say that life is like that, And i think by this he mean that even he think that life dont have sense he traying to finding So that mean that this quote connectd with existentialism, that even think that life dont make sense tray to finding.
3.We are all born mad. Some remain so.”
- Samuel Beckett, Waiting for Godot
This quote may can be connectd with both abusurdism and existentialism because is like depend like the way how you say. But is like more connected with absurdism because its like dont make sense.
4.
VLADIMIR:
Question of temperament.
ESTRAGON:
Of character.
VLADIMIR:
Nothing you can do about it.
ESTRAGON:
No use struggling.
VLADIMIR:
One is what one is.
ESTRAGON:
No use wriggling.
VLADIMIR:
The essential doesn’t change.
These lines mean that one is what one is and there’s nothing to look for; in other words, why struggle looking for the meaning of something or someone it is just what it is. This concept is connected to absurdism because it kind of means we don’t have to look for a meaning of a person because it doesn’t exist.
5. POZZO
(halting). You are human beings none the less. (He puts on his glasses.) As far as one can see. (He takes off his glasses.) Of the same species as myself. (He bursts into an enormous laugh.) Of the same species as Pozzo! Made in God’s image!
This line tells that everyman is the same made in God’s image. So this is connected to existentialism because it shows that the meaning of person will always be God which made man. This is related to the movie I Heart Huckabees because it is related to the same method the existentialist detective used with the blanket to convince Albert that everything is the same though they are different in certain way. Consequently what Pozzo said shows that he believed everyone is equal and need to be treated equally.
6.)Pozzo: the more people I meet the happier I become. From the meanest creature one departs wiser, richer, more conscious of one’s blessing.
this line is inportant because it shows happiness something that in this play is shown pretty much nowhere. this line is connected to the human condition….well to my human condition (i think im a human) because when i meet someone that its interesting i feel really happy since im getting to know someone new that could teach me something really interesting as an example is this one time while i was playing tennis that i meet a girl that i don remember the name but teach me how to grip the racket in the back handed grip.
7.POZZO: (sobbing). He used to be so kind … so helpful … and entertaining … my good angel … and now … he’s killing me.
this shows that pozzo DOES CARE about LUCKY, but in the way lucky is reight now is just giving him headaches
8. Vladimir:
You don’t remember any fact, any
Circumstance?
Estragon:
(Weary). Don’t torment me, Didi.
Vladimir:
The sun. The moon. Do you not
remember?
Estragon:
They must have been there, as usual.
-This is important because this is about how Estragon doesn’t remember about things he have done before, and also I think because of his age he really doesn’t remember a lot of things.
9. Estragon: Nothing we can do about it.
This line is very important because they just keep repeating it over and over again through out the play. It tells us that they just get use to life and accept things as they are, they don’t try to change anything.
Connection to Absurdism: This line also connects to absurdism because there is nothing they can do. Even if they try, something that I don’t think they are doing, nothing would change or improve because they believe things are meant to be that way.
