This is the information from natural sciences that show why is different from Social Sciences.

Social science Vs Natural Sciences

Sociology is the scientific study of human social behavior in the environment. The study of humans in their collective aspect, sociology is concerned with all group activities like: economic, social, political, and religious. And also one detail that’s very important is that sociology tries to determine the laws governing human behavior in social contexts. As you read the definition of sociology you can see the different from the natural Sciences and the social sciences this are the two different studies.

Hospitals reported at least 10 people killed and more than 50 seriously wounded. As has almost always been the case with the artillery attacks, most victims were civilians. This effect my life because lot of people die by this accident when i was born. So less people was in my country by this time.

Sociological imagination is the connection between a private problem and a public issue or in another words how something that happen in the world affect your life. In this project I showed how history influenced me even unconsciously. I am sure that this happens to every person because society shapes people’s life.

(U.S) Using an arcane procedure and careful vote counting, Democratic abortion-rights supporters won a skirmish today over whether Federal employees’ health insurance could cover abortions. By a 15-to-14 vote in the Senate Appropriations Committee, they killed a measure that would have prohibited insurance plans financed by the Federal Government from paying for abortions except in cases of rape, incest or threats to the life of the mother. The provision was approved by a subcommittee earlier this week.

(World) China’s new economic program may or may not succeed in bringing down inflation, but it is already having one far-reaching effect: it is making many ordinary workers spitting mad. When millions of Chinese collected their June salaries, they found most or all of their pay docked. The money went to purchase Government bonds, which nearly all urban citizens have been forced to buy.

Such is life.”
- Samuel Beckett, Waiting for Godot

By this quote he may say that life is like that, And i think by this he mean that even he think that life dont have sense he traying to finding So that mean that this quote connectd with existentialism, that even think that life dont make sense tray to finding.
3.We are all born mad. Some remain so.”
- Samuel Beckett, Waiting for Godot
This quote may can be connectd with both abusurdism and existentialism because is like depend like the way how you say. But is like more connected with absurdism because its like dont make sense.

4.
    VLADIMIR:
Question of temperament.
ESTRAGON:
Of character.
VLADIMIR:
Nothing you can do about it.
ESTRAGON:
No use struggling.
VLADIMIR:
One is what one is.
ESTRAGON:
No use wriggling.
VLADIMIR:
The essential doesn’t change.
These lines mean that one is what one is and there’s nothing to look for; in other words, why struggle looking for the meaning of something or someone it is just what it is. This concept is connected to absurdism because it kind of means we don’t have to look for a meaning of a person because it doesn’t exist.

5. POZZO

(halting). You are human beings none the less. (He puts on his glasses.) As far as one can see. (He takes off his glasses.) Of the same species as myself. (He bursts into an enormous laugh.) Of the same species as Pozzo! Made in God’s image!

This line tells that everyman is the same made in God’s image. So this is connected to existentialism because it shows that the meaning of person will always be God which made man. This is related to the movie I Heart Huckabees because it is related to the same method the existentialist detective used with the blanket to convince Albert that everything is the same though they are different in certain way. Consequently what Pozzo said shows that he believed everyone is equal and need to be treated equally.

6.)Pozzo: the more people I meet the happier I become. From the meanest creature one departs wiser, richer, more conscious of one’s blessing.
this line is inportant because it shows happiness something that in this play is shown pretty much nowhere. this line is connected to the human condition….well to my human condition (i think im a human) because when i meet someone that its interesting i feel really happy since im getting to know someone new that could teach me something really interesting as an example is this one time while i was playing tennis that i meet a girl that i don remember the name but teach me how to grip the racket in the back handed grip.

7.POZZO: (sobbing). He used to be so kind … so helpful … and entertaining … my good angel … and now … he’s killing me.

this shows that pozzo DOES CARE about LUCKY, but in the way lucky is reight now is just giving him headaches

8. Vladimir:

You don’t remember any fact, any

Circumstance?

Estragon:

(Weary). Don’t torment me, Didi.

Vladimir:

The sun. The moon. Do you not

remember?

Estragon:

They must have been there, as usual.

-This is important because this is about how Estragon doesn’t remember about things he have done before, and also I think because of his age he really doesn’t remember a lot of things.

9. Estragon: Nothing we can do about it.

This line is very important because they just keep repeating it over and over again through out the play. It tells us that they just get use to life and accept things as they are, they don’t try to change anything.

Connection to Absurdism: This line also connects to absurdism because there is nothing they can do. Even if they try, something that I don’t think they are doing, nothing would change or improve because they believe things are meant to be that way.

Please explain!

Waiting for Godot is a play that involved adsurdism and Existentialism philosophies at the same time. But in my opinion this play is more absurd than existential because first the them of the play does not really make sense, they were doing the same thing over an over again without obtaining any benefit, there were just getting closer to death because they though more than one time to hang themselves from the tree. Also even knowing that because they were waiting for Godot was some that kept them living, at the end they did not get anything new they were the same, they were just wasting there time day after day without getting anything Estragon was beat up every day, they did not have anything to eat. As well as they were doing the most absurd thing, which was that they were waiting for some one that they did not know.

"Waiting for Godot" similar to life in the Bronx

This study “Waiting for Godot” is similar to life in the Bronx because in the Bronx there are a lot of people in the street that they are homeless like Vladimir & Estragon. Also is similar because their were alone both of them, And i think this is connected to life in the Bronx because for example when you come from another country and you don’t know anything about you feel that way. Also is connected with the Bronx because some people come from another place or country to find their American dream here in the Bronx or in this country, but sometime from even they have their dream there sometime they can’t get this dream because you may want but you maybe don’t know the language or because you feel you never can’t get it. Or also because you don’t have support from another people to make it.

The play depicts the meaninglessness of life--with its repetitive plot, where nothing much happens. Here are a few quotes from Waiting for Godot.

Nothing to be done.”
- Samuel Beckett, Waiting for Godot

Its a importat quote because and is connected with Aburdism that mean somebody think that life dont make sense and Nothing to be done how the quote say.

Such is life.”
- Samuel Beckett, Waiting for Godot

By this quote he may say that life is like that, And i think by this he mean that even he think that life dont have sense he traying to finding So that mean that this quote connectd with existentialism, that even think that life dont make sense tray to finding.

We are all born mad. Some remain so.”
- Samuel Beckett, Waiting for Godot

This quote may can be connectd with both abusurdism and existentialism because is like depend like the way how you say. But is like more connected with absurdism because its like dont make sense.

outcome #9

LITERARY ELEMENT

METAPHOR

what does mean: the comparison of one thing to another without.

Example: but my heart is a lonely hunter that hunt on a lonely hill by Williams

A man may break a word with you sir and words are but wind. by Shakespeare

Example from the book: pozzo lets say no mere up pig

Estrango people are bloody ignorant apes

own definition when you compare something without like or as.

REPETITION

what does mean: the return of a word phase stanza for or effect in any form of literature repetition is an effective

Example TV song shows

Example from the book : nothing to be done

shows us the way they live they never know what would happen next they just live day today.

Connection to Absurd ism: when estragon repeat the phase nothing to be done.

ALLEGORY

what does mean: the representation of abstract idea or principle by character figure or event in events in narrative dramatic or physical form.

Example: the turtle and the rabbit

the alchemist is an allegory for porney

Example from the a book: ti could be an allegory for searching the life because there are two people who vladimir and estragon who are looking for meaning of their lives.

Important lines

Pozzo: you are human beings none the less. As far as one can see. Of the same species as myself. Of the same species as pozzo! Made in God’s imagine!

This line is important because it shows that even though that Pozzo seems to be rich and be an important man, he doesn’t discriminate others. He sees everyone else just like him, no matter color, religion or anything else. This quote tells us that for him every body is equal.

-Vladimir: You want to get rid of him?

Pozzo: I do. But instead of driving him away as I might have done, I mean instead of simply kicking him out on his arse, in the goodness of my heart I am bringing him to the fair, where I hope to get good price for him. The truth is you cant drive such creatures away. The best thing would be to kill them.

-This line are important because this show that Pozzo want to get rid of Lucky, because he is not good no more for him.

ESTRAGON:How long have you been here?

BOY:A good while, Sir.

These lines are important because Estragon ask the boy how long he was there and the boy say a while but how they did not see him before is they are in the middle of nothing there is just a road and a tree, so where the boy was hidden because there is nothing around.

presentation #2

Group#1 PG 25-26

I love how this group present because they change their voice ,i like the peppe its was great , Also love the kicking.

Group#2 pg 27-28

I didn’t like too most how this group act in the presentation because their were like lose in the presentation. Also their were talking , reading , and they didn’t change their voice.

Group#3 pg 29-30

The most great thing for me was how they act and the pippe with hand, i also love when they talk they move they hand.

Group#4

I didn’t like the cartoon too littler ,and when they star the presentation they star “wait, wait” , they don’t change they voice, also the just like read the all presentation.

group #5

I like by the end this group because i think that by the end i saw the most interest thing i love how they change they voice ,also i love how they say goodbye by the end

Waiting for Godot (important lines)

ESTRAGON: Nothing to be done. (He proffers the remains of the carrot to Vladimir.) Like to finish it? A terrible cry, close at hand. Estragon drops the carrot. They remain motionless, then together make a sudden rush towards the wings. Estragon stops halfway, runs back, picks up the carrot, stuffs it in his pocket, runs to rejoin Vladimir who is waiting for him, stops again, runs back, picks up his boot, runs to rejoin Vladimir. Huddled together, shoulders hunched, cringing away from the menace, they wait.

This lines are important because is not the first time that Estragon say that referring that they can not do nothing about what happen around us, which I connect with adsurdism because Estragron is saying that life does not have a meaning, and that you can not do anything about it.

VLADIMIR:

Nothing you can do about it.

ESTRAGON: No use struggling.

VALDIMIR: One is what one is.

ESTRAGON: No use wriggling.

VLADIMIR: The essential doesn’t change.

These lines are important because it shows that even thought that both of them are poor, homeless and have faced a lot of challenges in life they accept things as they are. They don’t try to argue with something that they believe happened for a reason. They also accept themselves as they are.

  ESTRAGON:

We’ve no rights anymore?

Laugh of Vladimir, stifled as before, less the smile.

VLADIMIR:

You’d make me laugh if it wasn’t prohibited.

ESTRAGON:

We’ve lost our rights?

VLADIMIR:

(distinctly). We got rid of them.

Silence. They remain motionless, arms dangling, heads sunk, sagging at the knees.

ESTRAGON:

(feebly). We’re not tied? (Pause.) We’re not—

These lines are important because they reveal that the main characters lived in good conditions time ago, but they were the cause of why they are beggars at the present because they got rid of their rights. Maybe the abandoned their social lives and lost their statues perhaps because they didn’t follow the laws of society in the past.

Etgar Keret is an Israeli writer recognized for her short stories. In his stories he uses certain characteristics that make their stories differ. Rutu Modan is a writer from the same country, she writes short stories, but she writes comics. Etgar Keret influenced Rutu Modan with certain uniqueness like trouble romances, unresolved conclusion, despair, fantastical, anonymous narrator, conflict and climax. These characteristics make their stories unique and interesting.

I think that Etgar Keret had an influence on Rutu Modan. One characteristic of Etgar Keret that Rutu Modan share is Trouble Romance. One example from Etgar Keret’s writing is in the story of Gur’s Theory of Boredom. A part that shows this is when Gur was saying to Orit his Ex-girlfriend that he was calling her but she never answer the phone and she told him that would be better if he did not call. This is trouble romance because he really likes her but she did not want to be with him. A line to prove this is “He’d been calling and leaving her messages of love but she never called him back, and she said it he hadn’t been arrested he never would’ve seen her at all and she said would be better if he didn’t call”. A similar example of Trouble romance happens in Rutu Modan’s storyHomecoming. An example to show this is when Max was telling Mali to move with him but she did not want because she did not want to do it before Yoseph died. This is trouble romance because they are discussing about moving together and Mali does not want that. A line to prove this is “ Isn’t time to moved in together?” Max said “ I just can’t so it. Not while Yoseph is alive,” Mali responded.

(By: Samuwl Beckett)

In my opinion this quote means that in order to get something in life you have to do thing over and over again, does not matter what happens, just to gain something in life.

This quote is to Absurdism because this believe say that if try to find something, a meaning or a purpose of life you will fail and you will not accomplish and is connected to the quote because even thought you try a lot you will still failing. This quote is also related to Existentialism because is you keep doing something a lot of time is because it have a meaning for you that make you keep trying.

I think this quote represents Existentialism more than Absurdism because the idea of the citation is that you should try to do things even thought you fail you keep doing it because is important to you or because it have a meaning for you that maybe it what keep you in living.

1 note

Painting: “Bohemia Lies by the Sea” by Anselm Kiefer

This painting point up a place with two roads in the center of the paint with flowers on the sides. This image transmit the idea of existentialism because when you see the paint at first you may not find a meaning, but if you stop to analyze, you as an individual you can find some meaning. If you observe the paint with an existentialist perspective the two roads in the middle will means the long journey in which you have to try the best you can to be able to find a meaning of your life.

Painting: “Number 28” by Jackson Pollock

This work of art shows the mark out of different lines made with paint with the color black, green, cream, and grey. It doesn’t make any shape or structure. This is connecting to absurdism because it seems like it doesn’t make any sense at all or a meaning. If you try to find it’s meaning you will not any meaning.

Painting: “Still Life With Three Skulls” by Max Beckmann

This painting show three different skull, it also has the colors yellow, orange and black with card around. In my opinion this illustrated that no matter what you do everything leads you to death and a symbols that show it are the skulls, so this is connect to Absurdism because it definition says that is you try to find a meaning of life you will die.

"I Haert Huckabees" hw

I haert huckabees is connected to the idea os existentials and absurdim. This flism shows the conflictor human when it come to know if their live a meaning or don’t. At the beaning of the movie. Albert a young gay that work at “Huckabees” starts talking to himself and say that he don’t have purpose of this life and life don’t make sense. This is connected to both idea because for him the world doesn’t make sense , but he also tray to to find a meaning which is existentialism but he starts thinking that what he nothing he does is helping him to find a meaning which is absurdism.

“Waiting for Godot” Note in class the send day that we star to watch the movie

Setting set on a tree

Personal Estrago & Vladimir

Today, it is the second day of the movie and there were somethings related to Existentialism and Absurdism I could see in it. Albert in a moment of despair said: “I should just quit. What’s the point of life anyway?” What Albert said shows us the idea of Absurdism. Absurdists say that life is pointless and that if you ever try to look for a meaning to life, you will never find it. Apart of the words of Albert, there was a part in the movie in which the Existentialist detectives are disagreeing with Albert. Albert said that life does not have a meaning and the detectives said that if he looked inside he could find a meaning. Albert was being Absurdist but the detectives were being Existentialists.

During our exposition of “Waiting for Godot” we meet two characters Estragon and Vladimir. Estragon is homeless because he sleep on a ditch and he is a hobo. Vladimir an Estragon are optimistic and pessimist but at different times each one. They think about religion as it shows when Vladimir tells Estragon, “VLADIMIR: Did you ever read the Bible? ESTRAGON: The Bible … (He reflects.) I must have taken a look at it.” This takes place near a country road and a tree during the evening and it might be in Paris because they mention the Eiffel Tower, “VLADIMIR: Hand in hand from the top of the Eiffel Tower, among the first. We were respectable in those days. Now it’s too late. They wouldn’t even let us up. (Estragon tears at his boot.) What are you doing?” Also because of the way they describe the place, is a ghetto because Estragon got beat up. The conflict in this play is that both characters had the will that someone would came, they don’t know what to do if they should keep waiting or try anything they can to fin something in their life. In think that at the end they will realize that no one is going to came and they would try to find something for their life meaning but one opf them my give up and not find what their purpose they are waiting.

Estragon, sleep on ditch a night which means that he is homeless and poor. This is connected to human condition because there are people around the world that had to live the same conditions, because they don’t have a opportunity to improve their life or because some just give up. Vladimir is an existentialist person because he said, “I’m beginning to come round to that opinion. All my life I’ve tried to put it from me, saying Vladimir, be reasonable, you haven’t yet tried everything.” This shows that he may try anything he can in order to find a meaning for his life even though existentialism means that life has no purpose or meaning but if you try to find it you could.

Museun Painting!!

The paintings we saw yesterday at the museum connect to the ideas of either existentialism or absurdism.Because these painting are painting that don’t make sense it’s look like something stupid.

outcome 4:powaqqatsi and the human condition(presentation)

The film say about the human condition that people work really hard in poor condition to improve their society.
